Healthcare Product Engineering — Built for Hospital-Grade Reliability

KareInfinity designs, builds, and integrates healthcare software and connected devices to the standard a live clinical environment demands — high availability, data integrity, and clean interoperability with the rest of a hospital's IT ecosystem.

Healthcare software carries a different risk profile than typical enterprise software: a defect can affect patient safety, not just user convenience. That reality shapes everything we build. Our engineering practice combines full-stack development, cloud architecture, healthcare interoperability, and medical device integration — all delivered with the traceability, testing, and audit discipline that clinical environments require.

This practice consolidates the full breadth of healthcare product engineering: custom clinical and administrative applications, HIS and EMR module development, cloud-native platforms, legacy modernisation, system integration, healthcare interoperability, and medical device connectivity. Whether you are a hospital extending a platform or a digital-health company building a product, we engineer to the same hospital-grade standard.

What We Build

From custom clinical applications to cloud-native healthcare platforms, we engineer software designed around real clinical workflows and hospital-grade reliability.

Custom Clinical & Administrative Applications

Purpose-built software for clinical workflows, administrative processes, and reporting needs that off-the-shelf systems do not adequately serve.

HIS & EMR Module Development

Extending or customising existing Hospital Information System and Electronic Medical Record platforms with new modules or capabilities specific to a hospital's requirements.

Web & Mobile Applications

Full-stack development of clinician-facing, administrative, and patient-facing applications, designed around real clinical workflows rather than generic enterprise UI patterns.

Cloud-Native Healthcare Platforms

Architecture and development of multi-tenant, cloud-hosted healthcare applications built for the concurrency, availability, and data-residency requirements specific to healthcare.

Legacy System Modernisation

Re-architecting or replacing ageing hospital systems while maintaining continuity of care and data integrity throughout the transition.

Healthcare Data Migration & Analytics

Trustworthy migration of clinical and operational data, plus analytics and reporting capabilities that turn hospital data into actionable insight.

System Integration

A modern hospital runs on eight to twelve software systems from as many vendors. We design the integration architecture that makes them function as one coherent environment — integration engine configuration, point-to-point and hub-based interfaces, master data synchronisation, and integration testing against realistic clinical data scenarios. The result is an ecosystem where patient identity, orders, results, and administrative data flow reliably between systems, rather than a collection of disconnected silos.

Healthcare Interoperability

We build every integration around recognised data standards rather than proprietary, vendor-specific interfaces, so a hospital's IT ecosystem stays flexible over time:

  • HL7 v2 — the long-established messaging standard still underpinning most hospital integration engines today, used for admissions, orders, results, and more.
  • HL7 FHIR — the modern, API-based standard increasingly required by newer platforms and regulatory mandates, enabling app-style access to clinical data.
  • IHE integration profiles — standardised, vendor-neutral patterns for specific clinical workflows such as radiology image sharing (XDS) and patient identity management (PIX/PDQ).

A hospital that integrates around open standards retains the freedom to add or replace systems later without re-architecting the whole integration layer. We design with that principle in mind even when a proprietary shortcut would be faster to build — because your long-term flexibility is worth more than our short-term convenience.

Medical Device Integration

For ICU Medical, a US-based infusion device manufacturer, KareInfinity engineered connected infusion platforms — from HL7-integrated sales demonstration environments and remote device management (Lifeshield Link), to the ONA Informatics Platform demonstrated at Arab Health 2023, which brings infusion devices together in a single dashboard for nurses and physicians.

This is one of the more demanding categories of healthcare interoperability work, because the data involved is directly tied to medication safety. We design these integrations around three requirements simultaneously: accuracy (no transformation errors in dosing or rate data), timeliness (alerts reach clinical staff in a clinically meaningful window), and auditability (every data point traceable — what was programmed, when, by whom, and what the device confirmed back).

Technology Capabilities

Cloud & Infrastructure

Microsoft Azure across IaaS, PaaS, and multi-tenant architecture, engineered for healthcare concurrency, availability, and data residency.

Interoperability

HL7 v2, HL7 FHIR, and IHE integration profiles for standards-based, vendor-neutral integration.

Full-Stack Development

Modern web and mobile engineering for clinician-facing, administrative, and patient-facing applications.

Data & Analytics

Healthcare data migration, warehousing, and analytics that turn clinical and operational data into insight.

Our Engineering Standards

Requirements traceability from clinical workflow through to code, so every feature maps to a genuine clinical or operational need.
Clinical scenario-based testing alongside standard functional and regression testing, validating against how care is actually delivered.
Data integrity and audit trail design built in from the architecture stage, not retrofitted after a compliance review.
Compliance with relevant data protection and clinical safety standards for the markets we build in.

Product Engineering FAQs

Custom clinical and administrative applications, HIS/EMR modules, web and mobile apps, cloud-native multi-tenant platforms, legacy modernisation, and healthcare data migration and analytics — all engineered to hospital-grade standards.

Yes. We build integrations around HL7 v2, HL7 FHIR, and IHE profiles as a matter of principle, so your ecosystem stays flexible and standards-compliant rather than locked into proprietary interfaces.

Yes. Through our work with ICU Medical we have connected smart infusion pumps into clinical and demonstration environments — including HL7 exchange, bi-directional pump communication, and clinical dashboards such as ONA Informatics — designed around accuracy, timeliness, and auditability.

Both. We build for hospitals and for digital-health and MedTech product companies — including multi-year product engineering for ICU Medical — and we provide technical due diligence where product architecture review is needed.
